Louisiana Teacher Accused of Sex with Female Student

(Opelousas, Louisiana) A 44-year-old Opelousas Junior High School teacher, Lana Green, has been accused of engaging in sex with a female student.
St. Landry Parish Sheriff Bobby Guidroz stated the victim is a 19-year-old female student.

According to the victim’s mother, her daughter is a high school senior and was taking a course at Opelousas Jr. High School in the summer of 2011.

According to Guidroz, Green and the victim first exchanged cell phone numbers that summer and began texting each other shortly thereafter.

“Ms. Green would leave the campus of the junior high to run errands for the school and take (the victim) with her without permission,” Guidroz said. “We received some complaints of Ms. Green leaving the campus and taking (the victim) with her is what ultimately initiated the investigation. We began the investigation in September or October of last year.”

The crime with which Green is charged, Prohibited Sexual Conduct between educator and student, is designed to protect students who are older than 17 but younger than 21 from the sexual advances of educators who are more than four years older than the student.
Green was booked into custody and subsequently released on $5,000 bail.
