(Vancouver, Washington) In April, former basketball coach at King's Way Christian School, 29-year-old Kyley J. Allworth, pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual abuse of a minor for engaging in sex with a female student.
Last Friday, Allworth was sentenced to 20 months in prison.
Allworth was a mentor to the 17-year-old girl, who was on the school basketball team, sheriff’s deputies have said, and the relationship was consensual. While the age of consent is 16, it’s a crime for a teacher or coach to have sex with a student.Allworth pleaded for a lesser sentence which was denied by Clark County Superior Court Judge Diane Woolard.
As part of the sentence, the Vancouver woman will be under community supervision for three years and must register as a sex offender for 10 years.
The victim did not attend Friday’s sentencing hearing, but made a statement, which was read by a victim’s advocate. The girl wrote that she had trusted Allworth as a mentor, and, at first, did not realize the extent of the damage caused by the relationship.
“I trusted her and she used that to her advantage,” the girl wrote.
The victim said all of the students at the Christian school adored Allworth and went to movies and spent time outside school with her. Allworth was respected and trusted among staff and students alike, the girl said.

(Vancouver, Washington) A 29-year-old teacher's aide and basketball coach at Kings Way Christian School, Kylee Allworth (aka Kyley Allworth), has been accused of sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old female student.
Allworth faces three counts of suspicion of sexual misconduct with a minor.
A detective's affidavit alleges that Allworth started making sexual advances about Feb. 24 that included sexual contact. Several of the incidents took place at the school, the affiliated church or on church property.Allworth was booked into custody with bond set at $50,000.
Allworth told the victim not to say what was happening, as she could go to jail, the affidavit said.
The affidavit said Allworth, after a Miranda warning, confessed before detectives to the advances. Her testimony mirrored what the victim told police.
