NJ Teacher Gets No Jail in Sex Case - Update
(Bergen County, New Jersey)
A former girls varsity softball coach at Wood-Ridge High School received probation today for having sex with a male student there.In addition to five years of probation, Jillian Clementi Cooper must also register as a sex offender under Megan's Law.
Under the terms of her plea agreement, 29-year-old Jillian Clementi Cooper of Glen Ridge won’t be permitted to teach or coach again in the U.S., either paid or as a volunteer.[…]
Clementi, who also taught at Immaculate Heart Academy in Washington Township, said that she is now “happily married” and “made a bad decision.” She was 25 and the boy 17 at the time, prosecutors said.
The legal age of consent in New Jersey is 16, unless the adult involved is in a position of authority.

(Bergen County, New Jersey) A 28-year-old social studies teacher and softball coach at Washington Township (N.J.) Immaculate Heart Academy, Jillian Clementi, has been accused of engaging in an extended-term sexual relationship with a male student.
Clementi faces charges of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
The softball coach allegedly met with the student at her house on multiple occasions while he was still a student at the school, though he has since graduated, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.[…]Information on court appearances is unavailable.
The Archdiocese of Newark which is in charge of Sacred Heart officially suspended the coach and teacher indefinitely shortly after she was arrested.
