(Bronx, New York) A 29-year-old teacher at PS 58, Lissette Bamenga, has been arrested for allegedly killing her two children with poison. Afterward, she reportedly attempted suicide.
Bamemga allegedly gave her children, Trevor Jr. and Liliane, ages 5 and 4 months, de-icing fluid mixed with juice and then slit her wrists in a suicide attempt.
She believed that her husband, NYPD Officer Trevor Noel, had cheated on her and she wanted to punish him.
The children were declared dead at the scene. Bamenga was rushed to Jacobi Hospital, where she remained in stable condition.Bamemga faces two counts of first-degree murder.
“You got what you wanted,” she allegedly wrote in one of two suicide notes. “Me and the kids are in a better place now.”
Bamenga also wrote “DNR,” meaning “do not resuscitate,” for whoever found her in the gas-filled apartment at 1500 Noble Ave. in Parkchester.
Noel, who had just finished the night shift at Manhattan’s 28th Precinct, was unable to speak when he arrived at the scene.
