Oklahoma Teacher Faces Rape Charges

(Pawnee County, Oklahoma) A 42-year-old teacher formerly at Woodland High School, Melissa Dawn Anson, has been accused of engaging in sex with an 18-year-old male student.

Anson faces two counts of second-degree rape.
According to the affidavit filed in May by the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office, the first incident occurred in April 2010 after the two met at the home of the alleged victim’s uncle. They eventually left the house and got into Anson’s truck “and went to the cemetery. Once there, Anson and the victim had sex,” the affidavit alleges.

The second time occurred that same month after the victim allegedly called Anson to meet, according to the affidavit. They two allegedly had sex in her vehicle, the affidavit states.

When asked by sheriff deputies about the incident, Anson said that “it was the attention he gave her that made her want to do it. She admitted that she knew in her mind that she shouldn’t do that,” according to the affidavit.
A court appearance is scheduled for July 24.
