(Corning, New York) A 38-year-old English teacher at West High School, Heather C. Darcangelo, has been accused of attempting to obtain drugs illegally from a local pharmacy.
Darcangelo faces a charge of fourth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.
Corning Police Lt. Jeff Spaulding said police received a complaint Wednesday from an unidentified Corning pharmacy that someone – allegedly Darcangelo – had contacted an employee and asked that person to steal narcotic drugs. The caller offered to give the employee money in exchange for the drugs.Darcangelo was booked into custody at the Steuben County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
“She was trying to purchase a quantity of prescription narcotic drugs without a prescription,” Spaulding said.
