NY Teacher Faces Drug Charge

(Corning, New York) A 38-year-old English teacher at West High School, Heather C. Darcangelo, has been accused of attempting to obtain drugs illegally from a local pharmacy.

Darcangelo faces a charge of fourth-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.
Corning Police Lt. Jeff Spaulding said police received a complaint Wednesday from an unidentified Corning pharmacy that someone – allegedly Darcangelo – had contacted an employee and asked that person to steal narcotic drugs. The caller offered to give the employee money in exchange for the drugs.

“She was trying to purchase a quantity of prescription narcotic drugs without a prescription,” Spaulding said.
Darcangelo was booked into custody at the Steuben County Jail with bond set at $10,000.
