Police: Alabama Woman Scrapped Car She Didn't Own

(Athens, Alabama) A 26-year-old local woman, Ashley White, has been arrested for stealing a car owned by an acquaintance and then selling it for scrap.

White has been charged with first-degree theft of property. According to Police Chief Floyd Johnson:
"White claimed to be the owner of a vehicle she sold as scrap. In reality she was not the owner of the vehicle," Johnson said.

White sold a 1993 Ford Taurus belonging to a male acquaintance, Johnson said.

Investigator Tim McIntire, who investigated the case, obtained a warrant for White's arrest. She was also charged with violating her probation on a previous arrest.
White was booked into custody with bond set at $500.
