Florida Woman Accused of Solicitation to Commit Murder

(Sarasota, Florida) A 49-year-old local woman, Janeene Lea Jones, was arrested this week for allegedly trying to hire a hit man.

Jones has been charged with two counts of solicitation to commit murder in the first degree.
On February 25, the Sarasota Police Department Narcotics Unit, with the help of the North Port Police Department, planned a meeting with Jones.

An undercover cop met with her and discussed the details of the plan. Jones provided the name of the person she wanted killed, their address and even a picture of the person to the undercover "hitman".

In the plan, Jones detailed exactly how she wanted the person murdered and how she wanted to make sure the "hitman" would clean up the mess as to not leave any evidence behind.

Jones gave the undercover officer money for the job and then made an additional agreement to kill another person.
If convicted, Jones faces life in prison.
