Ohio Teacher Accused of Perjury

(Zanesville, Ohio) A 37-year-old math teacher formerly at Tri-Valley Middle School, Michele L. Gross, has been accused of lying to a grand jury and giving alcohol to underage youth, charges linked to alleged crimes committed by her husband, Matthew Gross.

Michele Gross faces counts of perjury and furnishing alcohol to minors.

The perjury charge stems from her testimony during a Muskingum County grand jury hearing involving her husband in August, Prosecutor Michael Haddox said previously.

Gross’ husband, Matthew, who was a special education teacher’s aide at the school district from 2004-08, was indicted on two counts of rape and is expected to go to trial on those charges later this month.

Michele Gross pleaded not guilty during a hearing in the Muskingum County Common Pleas Court.
