Dead Pigs and Ducks in Chinese Rivers - Update

(Shanghai, China) Still a mystery.
The number of dead pigs found in Chinese rivers has risen to 16,000 as of this week, and 1,000 ducks have now been found floating down the South River in Pengshan county.
First pigs then ducks. What's next?

Dead Pigs in the River
[Previous 3/10/13 post]

(Shanghai, China) Over 900 dead pigs were found floating in the Songjiang River near Shanghai Saturday afternoon. It's a mystery.
Perhaps even more alarming, local officials seem at a loss as to what killed the pigs, or even where they came from.

The dead pigs were found in the Songjiang River. While the river does provide drinking water for Shanghai, officials have said they don't believe the water quality has been effected.
Rotting pig carcasses won't affect the drinking water sounds like hooey to me.

When corrupt totalitarian governments and corrupt big business work hand in hand, much as where the US is heading, with anyone and everyone for money and power with no regard for ethics it becomes impossible to know what happened there. I have to guess, even with the allotment for sloth and incompetence of slave laborers, people are going to be murdered for very possibly keeping poisoned meats out of the markets.

That is way too many hogs to be an accident. And those who feed their hog on poison substances, on irradiated or corrupted lands, aren't going to dump that kind of even bad investment. They'll just poison consumers, probably not even at a bargain.

Me? I take it as a metaphorical sign of China's political and economic future, though based on the simple reality, not some pagan style omen. Belly up. All animals are equal, but the ones that are more equal often come, eventually, to a bad end. I guess it takes so long, sometimes, though, that American politicians want to... get some of that.
