Texas Teacher's Aide Accused of Sex with Student

(Houston, Texas) A 24-year-old teacher's aide at Smith Elementary School, Katherine Alana Gricar, has been accused of engaging in sex with an 18-year-old female Spring High School student.

Gricar faces a charge of improper relationship with a student.

Gricar was employed by Spring ISD and held a Texas Teachers Aide Certification. She originally met the mother of the high school student at Smith Elementary School, where they both worked. Because the two were friends, the teacher allowed Gricar to move into her home to help her 18-year-old daughter with school.

Investigators said the student's mother had discovered the two had kissed and had caught the women alone with each other while they were locked in her daughter's bedroom.

An investigation began into the improper relationship on March 18 when a Harris County Constable Precinct 4 deputy was called to the house because of a disturbance caused when the high school student told her mother she planned to leave home and live with Gricar.

Gricar was booked and released on $30,000.
