Pennsylvania Teacher Sentenced for Sex with Student - Update

(Norristown, Pennsylvania) Former math teacher Erica Ginnetti pleaded guilty to sex with a 17-year-old student.

As a result, Judge Garrett Page sentenced Ginnetti to 30 days in jail, 60 days on house arrest and three years’ probation.

(Norristown, Pennsylvania) A 34-year-old math teacher, Erica Ann Ginnetti, formerly at Lower Moreland High School admitted to an improper relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

Ginnetti pleaded guilty to charges of institutional sexual assault and disseminating obscene and other sexual materials to a minor.

“She’s admitting that while she was an employee of a school, a teacher to be exact, she engaged in sexual activity with a student of the school. She sent him several images of herself. In one of the images she was wearing a bikini. In another of the images she was wearing a thong and in one of the videos she was undressing and touching herself,” said Assistant District Attorney Sophia Polites, explaining the nature of Ginnetti’s guilty plea.

Judge Garrett D. Page deferred sentencing so that court officials can complete a background investigative report about Ginnetti, who, according to court papers, is married and has three children.

Ginnetti is free on bail until sentencing.

(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) A 33-year-old math teacher at Lower Moreland High School, Erica Ann Ginnetti, has been accused of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old male student.

Ginnetti faces counts of institutional sexual assault, corruption of minors and disseminating explicit materials to a minor.

In July, Ginnetti and the student allegedly met at the Starbucks on Red Lion Road and Roosevelt Boulevard in Philadelphia. The student told police he got into Ginnetti’s white Nissan Altima, and the two drove around for about 30 minutes before parking somewhere along the border of Lower Moreland and Philadelphia in an industrial area, where the couple had sexual intercourse, the complaint states.[…]

After returning home on the night of the alleged sexual encounter, the student told police he received a text message from Ginnetti asking him to “do it again.”

Ginnetti allegedly admitted to the sexual relationship with the 17-year-old during a Jan. 16 interview with Lower Moreland police.

Ginnetti was arraigned Friday and released on $50,000 bail.
