Ohio PTA Big Gets Jail for Theft

(Willoughby, Ohio) In May, 37-year-old Jill Bouton pleaded guilty to stealing more than $17,000 from the Parent Teacher Council of Grant Elementary School.

Yesterday, Bouton was sentenced to 45 days in jail.
Assistant City Prosecutor Tim Deeb said Bouton did show remorse and agreed to repay about $5,500 more than what the prosecution could prove she stole.

“She has shown remorse and she has gone above and beyond,” said Deeb.

Bouton also does not have a previous criminal record and was very cooperative with police.

“When we have someone with an extensive criminal past, it’s a little easier to figure out their future conduct and how to punish that person. But in this case we don’t have that,” Deeb said.

While Bouton did appear to show remorse, Chief Probation Officer Daniel Salesky noted that Bouton did betray a position of trust within the community.
Bouton was also ordered to pay restitution and a fine.
