New York Woman Sentenced for Rape of Boy

(Central Square, New York) A 30-year-old local woman, Tanya M. Sochia, pleaded guilty this week to second-degree rape of a 13-year-old boy.

As a result, Sochia was sentenced by Oswego County Judge Donald Todd to 6 months in the county jail and 10 years of probation.

The rape took place in January. The boy's mother was friends with Sochia at the time of the incident.

The mother of the boy said she is upset with the sentence.

"She walks away with barely nothing and my son's scars will never heal," she said. "It also makes me want to push for stricter laws here for child molesters."

Sochia also must register as a sex offender.
