Nevada Mom Kills Her Boy, 7

(Las Vegas, Nevada) A local mother, Dina Palmer, has been convicted and sentenced for the death of her 7-year-old boy.

Palmer received 16 to 40 years in prison.

Roderick "RJ" Arrington's mother and stepfather, Markiece Palmer, took turns beating him in Nov. 2012 for lying about reading a bible chapter.

After his death, the boy's body was found to be covered with bruises, welts and cuts from repeated beatings. Arrington died as a result of a swollen brain after his head had been slammed against a wall.

RJ Arrington's case resulted in changes in the child welfare system and how social workers respond to reports of alleged abuse.
