Alabama Teacher Accused of Sex with Student
(Scottsboro, Alabama) A 26-year-old teacher with Scottsboro City Schools, Kandace Marie Christopher, has been accused of engaging in sex with a female student.
Christopher faces counts of being a school employee engaging in sex with a student under the age of 19 and another charge of a school employee having sexual contact with a student under 19.
During an internal investigation, Christopher submitted her resignation "effective immediately," according to school officials.Christopher was arrested and released on $16,000 bond.
Scottsboro police said they got a call Sunday about a missing juvenile whose parents said had run away after being confronted about a relationship with a teacher/coach from school.
Detectives followed up on the report with a criminal investigation that police say revealed that the relationship involving the female student and teacher took place over the past three months. The girl was located several hours later and was returned to her parents, police said.
