An Argentinian orangutan could be released from Buenos Aires Zoo, after being permitted legal representation on the grounds that she is a ‘non-human subject'.OK
Court proceedings, pertaining to the release of Sandra the female orangutan from Buenos Aires Zoo, have re-started in the capital this week.
The Association of Professional Lawyers for Animal Rights (AFADA) is calling for Buenos Aires Zoo to release the ape on the grounds that keeping her in a zoo is a form of mistreatment.

Here is the odd thing even animal rights activists and child protection services complain about.
Even the macaques, monkeys slap their children to teach them right from wrong.
Yet if we do it, we go to jail for child abuse.
How is that?
Because they are monkeys?
Probably couldn't live in the wild.
Will they pay to ship them back?
The orangutans are the two exclusively Asian species of extant great apes. Native to Indonesia and Malaysia, orangutans are currently found in only the rainforests of Borneo and Sumatra.
