NJ Teacher Accused of Heroin Possession
(Mahwah, New Jersey) A 42-year-old special education teacher at Felix Festa Middle School, Jill Blau, has been accused of heroin possession and other drug charges.
Blau's blue 2015 Lexus wagon hit a pole on Kingsbridge Way, leading condominium residents to call the Mahwah police when the driver drove off toward Fox Lane, Police Chief James Batelli said.Blau faces multiple counts of drug possession.
Officer Thomas Mitchell, while interviewing residents, saw the damaged blue car, Batelli said.
The Lexus's bumper and part of its grill was left at the scene, the chief said. Blau also was driving the Lexus with two flat tires, riding on the rims.
"She claimed she thought she hit the curb but didn't realize she struck the pole," Batelli said.
Mitchell arrested Blau after talking with her and giving her a field sobriety test, Batelli said. Police impounded the Lexus.
She was found in possession of eight decks of heroin, drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs, including Xanax, Triazolam, dextroamphetamine, and Loprin.
