Taking vitamin D supplements is useless

It is going to upset a lot of people but that is the latest finding -- below

How Much Vitamin D Is Enough?

Deborah Grady, MD, MPH

Editorial

There is ongoing controversy regarding the definition of vitamin D insufficiency and the optimal treatment goal: should treatment aim to maintain a serum vitamin D level above 20 ng/mL or above 30 ng/mL? We found the randomized clinical trial by Hansen et al1 informative because it enrolled women with low vitamin D levels and tested both a lower-dose treatment to maintain vitamin D levels greater than 20 ng/mL and a higher-dose treatment to maintain levels greater than 30 ng/mL. After 1 year of treatment, randomization to a higher dose of cholecalciferol resulted in slightly better fractional excretion of calcium compared with low-dose cholecalciferol or placebo, but these differences are not clinically meaningful. Of more clinical importance, neither dose of cholecalciferol improved bone density, strength, muscle mass, functional status, or fall rate. It is possible that treatment beyond 1 year would result in better outcomes, but these data provide no support for use of higher-dose cholecalciferol replacement therapy or indeed any dose of cholecalciferol compared with placebo.

Yeah, no. Added time would not improve those stats. I'm not even sure if what they add to milk, or anything else, helps. D seems to be an odd one. Then again, the absorption of most vitamins ans minerals, even through food, seems a lot more complex than what they are letting on. It seems that one body will take stuff, others won't, but in varying amounts.

If I had to break it down, from what I have read, it would go something like this. Healthy people are healthy, some people live longer, some a lot longer, most don't. Seriously. They keep trying to put everyone in one pot, saying they are all equal, but they aren't. I'm not even sure the same person is the same this year to next.

How much the mind, and yes even spirit/soul, plays, hasn't even been looked at, has it? Though I have doubts science has the tools, or honesty, to deal with such things. You can't honestly study people you intrinsically hate. Then again, I'm not sure it's just Christians, or other faithful, that science (scientists really) hate, it's... people. Sucks to be a socially incompetent, generally very morally weak, nerd who is probably only alive and working because of allowances by the very people you hate. Most are barely functional pseudo autistics and the like. Wouldn't be a problem, but they know and hate for it.

I'm too cheap to buy vitamins.

Now this bit of news.
