New York Woman Pleads Guilty to Sex with Child

In October 2014, Latasha Mitchell subjected a 7-month-old boy to sexual contact and recorded it on video with her cellphone.

On Thursday, Mitchell, 34, admitted her guilt in Binghamton’s federal courthouse and accepted a plea agreement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office on two felony counts of sexual exploitation of a child, charges that could place her in federal prison for at least 15 years.

Had the case gone to trial, prosecution witnesses, including FBI agents, and evidence would have shown that Mitchell recorded two cellphone videos of the criminal sexual acts against a child who was in her temporary care, Assistant U.S. Attorney Miroslav Lovric said.

Sentencing is scheduled for January 22, 2016.
