US-BORN LATINAS HAVE MORE, LESS HEALTHY BABIES THAN IMMIGRANTS

From the Center for the Study of Latino Health and Culture at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA comes research which determined that non-US-born Latinas have fewer teen pregnancies and healthier babies than their US-born counterparts. This occurs despite the fact that non-US-born Latinas have less education and less access to adequate health care. It's called the Latino epidemiological paradox.

One could conclude that if a Latino woman wanted fewer and more healthy babies, the best assurance would be attained by staying out of the United States. It would probably be a safe bet to assume that the liberal academic community in California is diligently pursuing a different explanation.
