Gunmen Rob Charity Poker Game

(Akron, Ohio) Early Sunday, two armed robbers stole $20,000 from a charity poker event at the Eagles Club on East Waterloo Road. Richard Merrill, in charge of the games, said:
. . . most of the money from the events has gone to youth athletic leagues in Akron-area communities. The programs are not part of regular scholastic athletics, Merrill said, and must raise their own funds. Many of the athletes who benefit are junior-high age or younger.

"Kids can't go out and sell candy bars any more. It's too dangerous," he said.
First of all, someone didn't need inside information to do the job. I would imagine that most Eagles Clubs have poker games on Saturday night, charity or no charity.

Secondly, the robbers are probably not big fans of youth athletics.
