(Austin, Texas) According to Sabrina Eaton of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Willie Nelson attracted a sellout crowd to the Austin Music Hall for a Kucinich fund-raiser,
. . . where fans wore "Keep Austin Weird" shirts to mark their city's status as a left-wing oasis in a steak-and-potatoes GOP state. The Kucinich campaign is expected to net at least $100,000.
My take is that the people who support Kucinich shouldn't complain when the bulk of society refers to them as weirdoes. They are apparently proud to be weird.
Also, $100,000 doesn't seem to be a very large amount when compared to fund-raisers conducted by President Bush and Vice-President Cheney. Since money is the lifeblood of political campaigns, the Nelson concert probably did more to fortify Austin's night life than Kucinich's campaign for the 2004 election.
