Wal-Mart Loses Ballot Issue in Inglewood, CA
Tally up a victory for the unions. The ballot measure which would have allowed Wal-Mart to build a shopping center in the center of town was defeated. Unfortunately, the promises of 1,200 jobs being created and millions of dollars added to the tax base has been snuffed. Organized labor enlisted the support of anti-business environmentalists and welfare-state advocates, Jesse Jackson and Maxine Waters, to rally opposition to Wal-Mart.
Defeat of the ballot issue has to be considered an example of the hypocrisy of the leftists. They loudly complain about the lack of jobs while actively campaigning against creating any.
