(Albany, New York) Updating previous reports (here and here), a county grand jury has indicted Sandra "Beth" Geisel, 42, on three counts of rape and one count of performing a criminal sexual act, all related to sexual encounters with a 16-year-old boy last May.

Thus far, Geisel's defense appears to be angling toward blaming the influence of alcohol on her behavior along with the contention that the students aggressively pursued her. Firewater and the urgings of boys? She might as well say the devil made her do it.
Nevertheless, if convicted, Geisel faces a possible sentence of 16 years in prison, one and one-third to four years for each count. Adding to her troubles is a DWI charge which she received while out on bail from the rape charges.
