(London) An estimated 200 British law enforcement officers and police agencies in five other European countries were involved in a two-year investigation of illegal alien smuggling which culminated yesterday.

Nineteen people are being questioned by police investigating a network throught to have smuggled 200,000 people into the UK.Codenamed Bluesky, the investigation involved authorities in France, Italy, Holland, Belgium, and Denmark. The criminal racket is believed to have made millions of pound for the ringleaders who invested in legitimate businesses like cafes and pool halls.
It is thought to be one of the biggest illegal immigrant rackets ever uncovered in Britain.
The 19 suspects were arrested in raids in London and Boston, Lincolnshire.
Eight men were held on suspicion of facilitating human smuggling, while two women on suspicion of interfering with the inquiry.
Six people were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences, one on suspicion of money laundering offences and two on suspicion of theft.
The gang is thought to have preyed mainly on Turkish Kurds, promising them a better life in Britain.
