Disabled Golfers Sue Marriott

(San Francisco, California) If you look at my scorecard, it provides proof positive that I'm a disabled golfer, but that's not what this story entails.

From SacBee.com:
Disabled golfers sued Marriott International Inc. on Tuesday, accusing the travel chain of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act by not providing so-called "adaptive" golf carts.

Richard Thesing, of California, and co-plaintiff Lawrence Celano, of Arizona, sued in federal court in San Francisco after they asked the company to provide the specialized carts, which can cost several thousand dollars more than conventional carts.
I would wager that Congress wasn't thinking of adaptive golf carts when the Americans with Disabilities Act was passed. Nonetheless, due to cost alone, if the lawsuit is won, it will probably mean that some courses will cease providing golf carts for anybody.
