No Discipline for Drunken Supreme Court Justice

Alice Robie Resnick(Columbus, Ohio) Last January, Ohio Supreme Court Justice Alice Robie Resnick was pulled over by state troopers who had been alerted to her erratic driving by several motorists. She then took off, only to be pulled over again and taken into custody. Resnick reportedly reeked of alcohol and her movements were slow and deliberate. She refused to take a blood-alcohol content test. Subsequently, Resnick pleaded guilty to drunken driving and had her license suspended.

Typically, judges will also have their law licenses suspended upon convictions for drunken driving, but not in Resnick's case. A state panel of appellate judges decided to just give her a wag of the finger and a public "Tsk, tsk." It's not known how many bracers she slugged down in celebration.

By the way, Resnick is a Democrat, not that there is anything wrong with that. Most voters will probably forget about her conviction when she runs for re-election.
