
According to court documents, Turns was charged with three counts of statutory rape and three counts of sexual battery by an authority figure. Statutory rape carries a possible two years in prison for each count. Sexual battery can result in six years for each count.
Allegations of sexual misconduct prompted an investigation by school officials. In a meeting with Turns in mid-January, officials discussed concerns regarding the sex allegations and school system policies. Turns resigned her teaching position shortly thereafter.
Turns was booked into the Robertson County Jail and later released on $10,000 bond. She is scheduled for court on March 17.
