Teacher Gets 6 Months for Statutory Rape

(Cross Plains, Tennessee) Last February, 25-year-old married teacher at East Robertson High School, Jennifer Erin Turns, was arrested for allegedly having sex with a 15-year-old male student. Turns was charged with three counts of statutory rape and three counts of sexual battery by an authority figure.

Today, it was reported that Jennifer Erin Turns pleaded guilty to three counts of statutory rape and was sentenced to six months in jail and two and a half years in community corrections.

From Robertson County Times:
She is scheduled to report to the Robertson County Jail on Saturday and serve until Nov. 2, when she will be released for a short time.

White [Assistant District Attorney Jason White] said Turns' planned release is due to the fact that she is currently pregnant and expected to give birth in November. Officials declined to make any further comments about the pregnancy.
So, something is in the oven but nobody is talking about it. Obviously, the paternity of the soon-to-be-born must be on everybody's mind. She has other children and is, presumably, still married.

The end date of her incarceration is May 1 at which time Turns would begin her community corrections period, encompassing registration as a sex offender and the surrender of her teaching license.
