Teacher Gets No Jail for Felony Sex with Student

(Goldsboro, NC) In February, 36-year-old English teacher at Charles B. Aycock High School, Laurie Spurlock, was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff's deputies for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male student. Spurlock was charged with two counts of a felony sex offense with a student.

After pleading guilty in Wayne County Superior Court to two felony counts of sexual activity by a teacher with a student, Spurlock was given a three/four-month suspended prison sentence, placed on supervised probation for 12 months and fined $500 and court costs. Judge Jerry Braswell also ordered her to complete 200 hours of community service within six months and pay the $200 community service fee.
