Teacher Jailed for Sex with Student

(Goldsboro, North Carolina) A 36-year-old English teacher at Charles B. Aycock High School, Laurie Spurlock, was arrested by Wayne County Sheriff's deputies for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with an 18-year-old male student. Spurlock was charged with two counts of a felony sex offense with a student.

According to Sheriff Carey Winders, the Wayne County Board of Education requested an investigation of the relationship between Spurlock and the student. Consequently, Detective Sgts. Tammy Odom and Dean Roscoe determined that sex had occurred between September 2005 and January 2006 in violation of state law. The sex did not occur on school grounds.

Spurlock was booked at the Wayne County Jail and held in lieu of a $15,000 secured bond.
