Lisa Lynnette Clark Sentenced, Again
(Gainesville, Georgia) Following up on Lisa Clark's conviction and sentencing last March for rape, she pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of hindering the apprehension of a child and was sentenced to two years in prison.
The prosecution came as a result of 37-year-old Clark aiding and abetting her 15-year-old victim/husband to escape from state custody. Clark gets credit for time served which appears to mean that her previous sentence of nine months for rape will run concurrent with this latest sentence.
The Douglas County Superior Court ruling also specified three years probation. And Clark continues to be prohibited from seeing her victim/husband until at least his 17th birthday. All is not gloomy, though. In only seven years, Clark's victim/husband will finally be half her age.
In the meantime, Georgia Gov. Perdue signed a bill last month that prohibits anyone under 16 from getting married. Presumably, we won't be seeing another case like that of Lisa Lynnette Clark, at least not in Georgia anyway.
[Update 02/25/08]
Lisa Clark released from prison.
