Teacher Pleads in Lewdness with Student Case

(Bakersfield, California) In May, 27-year-old math teacher at Highland High School, Ann Elizabeth Miller, was arrested for allegedly engaging in sex acts with a 15-year-old male high school student. She was booked into jail for one count of lewd acts with a child 14 or 15 years of age and 10 years younger than herself.

In court today, Miller pleaded no contest to a felony count of lewd conduct and a misdemeanor count of showing harmful manner to a minor. Although a sentencing date wasn't reported, Miller faces up to a year in jail, registration as a sex offender and permanent loss of teaching credentials.

Her lawyer, Gael Mueller, stated that Miller has an emotional disorder. She didn't explain the disorder.
