Teacher-Student Sex Case Advances

(Wytheville, Virginia) Last January, 41-year-old English teacher at Scott Memorial Middle School, Karen Susan Patton, was arrested for allegedly engaging in a sexual relationship with a 13-year-old student. Patton, a married mother of two, resigned her teaching position.

Today, Patton and her attorneys were in court to waive a preliminary hearing on charges that she had sexual relations with three of her male students. As a result, the charges now will go before a grand jury.

As a reminder, Patton was first discovered to have inappropriate relations with a student when the boy's mother noticed sexual references in instant messages between Patton and the boy.
