(Tempe, Arizona) Presumably, there will be considerable opposition to this idea by Arizona State University sophomore Matthew Jezierski. The group is known as CAMASU, Caucasian American Men of ASU, and its purpose is to give Caucasian males recognition.
From ASU Web Devil:
The student group of more than 40 members plans to become an official organization by registering with the Student Organization Resource Center today, Jezierski said.Feminists are opposed. Imagine that.
"As soon as we become an official group, we can be taken more seriously," Jezierski said. "It won't be like we're preaching on campus."
After Jezierski learned of the group last month from Leadership Institute field representative Emily Mitchell, he said he immediately became involved.
After spending time on campus talking with students who said they wanted more representation for white males, Mitchell decided CAMASU was needed.
The group is sending a negative message to the campus, Feminist Organization member Cali Kahlman said.I suppose that when it comes to defining the adversary, feminists pretty much have their minds made up. Nonetheless, the group includes some women and it's not restricted to Caucasians.
"The group sounds like it consists of white men who cannot comprehend how ... much easier they have it than the majority of society," Kahlman said.
