1,806 Honor Killings in 5 Years

(Ankara, Turkey) According to State Minister for Women and Family Affairs, Nimet Cubukcu, statistics indicate that the government of Turkey needs to be more diligent and determined in combating honor killings.
"It has been disclosed that 1,806 murders, that fell under the definition of honor killings were committed between 2001 and 2006. During the same period, 5,375 women, including foreign nationals, have committed suicide."
Sadly, the numbers reflect honor killings in only one country, not globally. One a day, rain or shine, and not a single man. Particularly depressing situation, I think. The feminists will surely express outrage.

Or, maybe not. They haven't so far.
