Brit Health Care No Longer Free
(UK) According to a study by Doctors For Reform, a health system pressure group, increasing numbers of patients are paying for premium health care to go along with their free care from the National Health Service (NHS). The Doctors For Reform group contends this means that "the health service is no longer free."
At the same time that patients are forced to pay for "free" NHS medical care, a large and increasing number of Brits are opting to travel overseas for medical treatment. People view "medical tourism as a more pleasant option than surgery at home, as well as a chance to escape serious hospital super-bugs, which are becoming more common in the UK."
Whoa! It sure seems that the utopian socialist medical scheme isn't working all that well in the UK.
I'm reminded of the old story about the farmer who offers free oats. People can take all the oats they want for free. Just pick them up. Of course, if someone wants premium oats, those that haven't already passed through the horse, there is a price.
