Vegans Get Life for Baby's Death

(Atlanta, Georgia) Two radical vegetarians, Lamont Thomas and girlfriend Jade Sanders, were sentenced to life in prison today for the starvation death of their six-week-old son, Crown. They were convicted by a jury of malice murder.

Thomas, 31, and Sanders, 27, follow the vegan lifestyle and tried to defray criticism of vegetarianism as the cause, saying they fed the boy soy milk and organic apple juice. However, experts testified that the type of foods given to the child were not a factor. Rather insufficient food was given. By the time the infant was taken to a doctor, he was already dead from malnutrition.

At death, the baby weighed a mere three and one-half pounds and doctors could count the bones in the skeleton.
