Woman Arrested for Theft From Blind Deli Owner

(Mount Healthy, Ohio) A 19-year-old female, Mary Cayze, allegedly tried to rip off a blind deli owner and was caught.

At about 8:13 a.m. this morning a citizen in the Courthouse Deli saw a woman buy a soft drink from Kent Parker, who run the deli. The suspect handed Parker a $1 bill but told him it was a $10 bill, receiving the soft drink and change, the sheriff's office said.

The citizen immediately notified Sheriff's Court Services Officers of the offense. Cayze was located in the hallway outside courtroom 140, where she was arrested.

The theft was also captured by surveillance video at the deli stand.

Normally a misdemeanor, the theft is elevated to a felony when one steals from a blind person. In any event, it's obvious that Mary Cayze was suffering from a severe case of the stupids this morning. For nine dollars, she may end up with a felony on her record.
