Nebraska Teacher Faces Sex Charge

(Fremont, Nebraska) Last week, an arrest warrant was issued for Brandy Reynolds, a 25-year-old former teacher at Omaha Baptist Academy, for allegedly engaging in a two-year sexual relationship with a male student starting when the boy was 15.

Yesterday, Reynolds was arrested then released after posting 10 percent of a $50,000 bond. Reynolds faces a charge of first-degree sexual assault. If convicted, she could be sentenced to a very long prison term.

Oh, wait a second, I forgot momentarily that she's a woman. Therefore, upon reconsideration, I speculate that she will see no more than 60 days in jail if convicted. It's likely that she won't even see that.

It's pretty sad when the toothlessness of the court system can be predicted with a measure of confidence.
