Puppy Fed to Snake

(Phoenix, Arizona) A 40-year-old local man, Joseph Beadle, was sentenced today to 90 days in jail and two years' probation for covering his puppy with oil and feeding it alive to his malnourished 8-foot-long boa constrictor.

Beadle has already served 51 days of his sentence after pleading guilty to one count of cruelty to animals. The judge ordered Beadle to undergo a psychological evaluation and a drug test. His snake had to be euthanized because it went crazy.

Interestingly, it's not exactly clear what constituted the cruelty to animals offense. The snake was neglected in an apparent act of cruelty. The puppy was covered in cooking oil and consumed by the snake, also an apparent act of cruelty. Logically, it would seem that Beadle committed two acts of animal cruelty.

Therefore, it's not known whether Beadle is doing 90 days for his treatment of the snake or the puppy.
