Teacher Jailed for Death Threats to Students

(Thurmont, Maryland) In late 2005, sixth-grade teacher at Thurmont Middle School, Michelle Dohm, was indicted for making death threats to students in notes left on lockers and in bathrooms at the school. Dohm was charged with making bomb threats and stalking students. Dohm claims she was framed.

However, according to the prosecution, Dohm wrote notes to four boys, including one message that read, "Tick-tock, tick-tock, is it a bomb or is it a clock?" Court documents also indicate that Dohm's computer was used in creating some of the messages.

In April 2007, 42-year-old Dohm was found guilty on five counts of making false bomb threats to five different students by presiding Frederick County Circuit Court Judge, Julie Stevenson Solt.

Yesterday, Dohm was sentenced to three months in the Frederick County Jail, six months of work release and nine months of house arrest.

The Frederick County School Board has yet to make a decision regarding her employment as a teacher. Dohm has been on unpaid leave since her arrest in December 2005.

Notably, despite being found guilty, Dohm continues to deny writing the death threats. And no motive has been identified.
