Teacher Scarlett Gets 3 Days in Jail

(Strongsville, Ohio) In the drawn-out case of 40-year-old teacher Christine Scarlett, we finally have a conclusion.

As a reminder, Scarlett mixed it up with student Steven Bradigan, had a child by him and was charged with multiple counts of sexual battery. Last month, Scarlett pleaded guilty to five counts related to the seduction of Steven Bradigan. Her guilty plea avoided a sensational student-teacher sex trial which was scheduled to begin.

Yesterday, for her guilty plea to three counts of sexual battery and two counts of disseminating obscene materials to juveniles, Christine Scarlett was sentenced to three days in the Cuyahoga County Jail. Judge Ambrose could have given her many years in prison if he had opted for the maximum.

To digress momentarily, I predicted that Scarlett wouldn't see much jail time but three days is significantly less than I imagined. I figured she'd possibly get 60 days or at least 30. Three days puts her punishment in the category of "Why bother?" or "Hey, I'm waiting for the bus."

Nevertheless, Judge Dick Ambrose gave her the three days even though Steven Bradigan spoke up and said that Scarlett had tricked him into having sex so she could get pregnant. Scarlett started boo-hooing when Steven spoke.
"You were not interested in what was good for me," he said. "I feel like I was used and I was a stupid jerk for not realizing it then."
Bradigan's father, Lawrence, also weighed in with the assertion that Scarlett got off too easy and justice was not served.

To round out her hand slap, Judge Ambrose also gave Scarlett 180 days of house arrest and five years' probation.
