Woman Arrested for Assault, Flight Crew Interference
(Denver, Colorado) A 38-year-old mother-of-two, Tamera Jo Freeman, was arrested after a recent flight to Denver for assault and interfering with a flight attendant. Reportedly, Freeman smacked her kids, ages 2 and 4, and threw a drink on a fight attendant.
At a hearing yesterday in U.S. District Court, Magistrate Judge Craig Shaffer remanded Freeman to custody pending her trial. Since Freeman formerly called Hawaii home and now resides in San Francisco, the court had no confidence that she would return for trial.
Seemingly related to the alleged offenses committed on the airplane, though I don't know how, Freeman has a record of domestic abuse and violating protective orders. Additionally, she has some sort of medical issues of which the court is aware and has decided to keep confidential. Judge Shaffer stated that the medical issues are "problematic" and should be kept private.
Reviewing the details of this case, and the fact that Freeman is not allowed to bail out of jail, makes me think that something is going unreported. I just can't see making a big federal case out of smacking the kids and throwing a drink.
