Woman Strangles Raccoon

(Cheshire, Connecticut) According to animal control officer April Leiler, local mother Denise Morrison choked a rabid raccoon to death after the animal attacked and started gnawing on her son's leg.

With no help around, the mother tore the raccoon from the boy's leg.

"She held on to the raccoon and she held on until she had choked it," Leiler said.

Animal control officers said the woman, with adrenaline pumping, finally realized she had strangled the raccoon.

"They were pretty sure it was dead, so they left it there and ran back to the house and called 911," Leiler said.

When police and animal control officers arrived at the scene, they had to get the raccoon to the lab to determine whether it had rabies.

It did.
