Convicted Tennessee Teacher Now Pregnant by Student

(Knoxville, Tennessee) In September 2007, a business teacher at Knoxville Catholic High School, Dianne Dubay Dieterich, pleaded guilty in Knox County Criminal Court to statutory rape of a 17-year-old male student.

According to the plea deal, the 36-year-old married mother-of-two receives four years probation with the chance of clearing her record if she stays out of trouble.

In the latest development, court documents indicate that Dieterich is more than 10 weeks pregnant with the student's child and is suffering from severe depression. Dieterich's husband has been supportive even though the child she is carrying is not his.

With the judicial diversion sentence, Dieterich can have her record expunged but it won't reinstate her teaching credentials. In fact, Board of Education Official Rich Haglun has vowed to make sure that Dieterich never teaches again.

Dieterich's diagnosed depression is understandable given the pot of troubles she created for herself.
