WV Woman Gets Prison for Sex with Boy
(Clarksburg, West Virginia) In June 2007, 25-year-old Cynthia Ann Flores, charged with engaging in sex with a 15-year-old boy, had her criminal complaint revised to reflect five counts of sexual assault.
Flores originally faced 50 counts but Harrison County Magistrate Frank DeMarco reduced the number in order to make her trial more manageable.
In August, Flores pleaded guilty to five counts of third-degree sexual assault for engaging in sex with the boy between July and November 2006.
Yesterday, Flores was sentenced to two to ten years in prison. Upon release, she will be subjected to five years of supervision and she must register as a sex offender for life.
The ruling seems reasonable and is refreshingly different from the customary hand slaps meted out to female sex offenders. There just might be a few less if women were apprised of a high likelihood that their pristine posteriors were going to land in the clink for messing with kids.
