Ohio Teacher Guilty of Sex with Boy

(Canton, Ohio) A 29-year-old former Fairless middle school teacher, Kathryn Gill, pleaded guilty yesterday before Stark County Common Pleas Judge Richard D. Reinhold Jr. to unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

She has resigned from the district and has surrendered her teaching license, said Assistant Stark County Prosecutor Lori Curd.

Gill engaged in sexual conduct with a teenage boy between April and July, Curd said. The boy, who was older than 13 but younger than 16, attended a school in the district, but the prosecutor wouldn't say which one.

The charge is based on the boy's age, not on a teacher-student relationship.

Gill will be sentenced next month when she faces up to five years in prison. Reportedly, though, the judge favors probation.

Gill will have to register as a sex offender.
