Teacher Shot During Revolver Lesson

(Junadagh, India) In the far-western coastal region of India, a Barney Fife sighting has occurred.
A police head constable showing off a service revolver to a bunch of schoolchildren and their teacher visiting a police station here, accidentally shot the teacher, who had to be rushed to the hospital.

The incident occurred at the Mendarada police station in Junagadh district.

According to the police, Rameshbhai Chauhan (56), the supervisor of the Mendarada-based Swaminarayan Gurukul-run G P High School was on a scheduled visit to the police station along with the students.

At the Arms and Ammunition room, Head Constable K M Vala, who was interacting with the students, took out a loaded revolver to show it to the visitors. While he was unloading the weapon, the trigger was pressed accidentally, firing a bullet, which ricocheted from a wall and passed through the shoulder of the school teacher, who was standing adjacent to the head constable.
The Head Constable faces charges of negligence causing serious bodily injury. The teacher is hospitalized reportedly in stable condition.
